Recycle old toilet paper rolls to create homemade puppets you can use in an interactive storytime or create your own puppet show!
What you’ll need…
Optional…
Decide what kind of puppets you would like to create. Will they be animals, princesses, dragons?
TIP: use your favourite book to inspire your puppets. These could be used in interactive storytelling!
Use craft paint with paintbrushes or stick-on coloured paper to decorate the body. Don’t forget to remember to allow the paint or glue to dry before moving onto the next step!
REMEMBER: Paint and glue can get very messy, so make sure you have laid newspaper or something similar to protect getting a mess on the surface! Ask a grown-up to help you out when painting or sticking.
After the paint or glue has dried, add some detail with your felt tip pens. Add some eyes, nose and other characteristics to bring your puppets to life!
TIP: If you are creating an animal, fold down the top of the roll to create ears!
Once you have created a face and body for your puppets, add any additional detail with your coloured paper and other craft materials!
REMEMBER: ask an adult to help you cut out!
TIP: Pipe cleaners make great hair!
