Anti-Bullying Week is a fantastic reminder of how important it is to encourage children to reach out to stop bullying. If you’re worried about bullying and wondering how you can support your child, the Anti Bullying Alliance have created a free parent and carer pack that'll help you start the conversation, download your copy here
Being inclusive is so important to us. We are proud to help put a spotlight on bullying this week, which will not be tolerated in any form at Camp Beaumont, whether carried out by a child or an adult.
Learning how to form relationships with children from different backgrounds, ages and cultures is hugely beneficial, and beyond the fun activities, is exactly what makes Camp Beaumont such a positive, inclusive experience. Interactions at our camps provide children with a broader, more tolerant understanding of society as a whole. These experiences encourage children to become more supportive and open to forming friendships outside their usual circles; which in turn should help reduce bullying in everyday life.
Our Camps are a safe, supportive and caring environment in which all children are free from the fear of being bullied. Here are just a few of the ways we foster an anti-bullying culture:
• Nurturing caring and inclusive behaviour
• Discussing friendships and encouraging group and team play
• Encouraging children to report bullying without fear
• Discussing the issues surrounding bullying with children, including why bullying behaviour will not be tolerated
• Exploring the consequences of bullying behaviour with children
In fact, it’s wonderful to be different, and having friends who are different to ourselves creates much more interesting interactions and opportunities to learn and think in other ways. Fundamentally, everyone is different, whether that is obvious or not. It is something to be celebrated. So we will be wearing ‘odd socks’ today, as part of the Anti-Bullying Alliance’s ‘Odd Socks Day’ campaign which celebrates what makes us all unique. And we’ll be wearing them all week!
