As a parent or guardian, a headache that comes with the regular school breaks is the childcare quandary. Whilst we’re all keen for our children to rest, recharge and have fun in between their busy school terms, taking time off work isn’t always an option. This leaves a scramble for daily activities that tick all the boxes without using up annual leave.
Coming to the rescue are half term camps, designed to take the weight from the shoulders of parents when the kids aren’t at school. In this article we will explore 5 reasons why you should consider booking a half term camp for your child.
Attended daily throughout the school holidays and half term weekdays, camp provides fun and engaging activities for children of a variety of ages. They offer safe, secure childcare that leaves the child returning to school rested and recharged.
As we’ve mentioned, the convenience of a school holiday camp is unrivalled when it comes to childcare in the holidays. Half term camps provide a safe space for your child to spend time while your daily working life continues; not only this, but they’re still spending their time well until it’s time to head home.
Whether your child has a large social circle, or a select couple of close friends, they’ve got the potential to make new mates from different schools when attending a half term camp. With no lessons or seating plans, kids are free to interact over some fun activities, potentially making lifelong friends, and developing their social skills with a new group of peers.
Half term camps offer a vast array of activities, many of which your child may never have tried before, opening them up to new skills and passions. From archery to arts and crafts, there’s always the chance that they’ll find something they absolutely love, sparking a lifelong affinity.
We all know the guilt that comes with too much screen time, and school holidays can be a breeding ground for bad habits. To know your child is enjoying enriching activities, fresh air and healthy dollop of exercise is a huge relief, and lets you head off to work safe in the knowledge that they’re catered for.
Children learn vital social abilities, gain some all-important self-confidence, and enjoy carefree fun through enriching experiences with their peers. By offering a well-rounded timetable of activities, half term camps aim to, in a small way, work towards the healthy development of every child in their care.
Here’s what you could expect your child to get involved with depending on their age and which camp you've booked:
